Coming Soon New Sailing Film "All is Lost"

Not an encouraging title to take one's prospective Ist Mate to watch, why not throw in ' Perfect Storm ' and a copy of ' Heavy Weather Sailing ' ?!

Sailing films are not usually too spiffing, though I thought the awfully titled ' Wind ' was under-rated and there was Master & Commander...

For God's sake, don't tell Mrs Boreades!

Ever since I showed her the AIS tracks of the traffic in the English Channel, she's developed a phobia of open seas and crossing shipping lanes.

Das Boot deserves a mention.

Call me weird but I often have either Castaway, Perfect Storm, Double Jeopardy (boaty bit at the beginning) or Titanic on in the background during a long night watch. Look forward to this release :)

Funny how in Holywood films the only exciting thing about leisurely sea travel seems to be....well, accidents!

Same goes for Adrift, Titanic or the Perfect Storm. Surely stories like Bernard Moitessier's, Robin Knox-Johnston's, Joshua Slocum's or others not springing to my mind would make exciting films, no?

But then they've also never made a film about a flight in a plane where the worst thing to happen was they ran out of the chicken option...

But no, I don't really think those stories would make especially exciting films to be honest.

The best sea/sailing film without doubt for me is Master & Commander...

If you want real people sailing or cruising look no further than YouTube as there are so many brilliant clips to follow..
