Hi Folks!

Been Ghosting anonymously round these pages for a few months now, and thought it was time I "came out" as a boatsexual. (no buoy jokes please!)

I trust that you will be kind in responding to my posts, and remember that I don't know anything except what Nick (Castaway) taught me!!!

Welcome to the madhouse. You'll find people round here are very friendly unless:-

1) You post a question that has recently been covered at great depth...
Use the search engine before posting.

2) You raise matters of gaff v. bermudan rig; trad layout (Contessa 32 &c.) v modern (Bennny Oceanis 350 &C.) &c.
basically once someone has bought a yacht - which is a long process; persuaded their spouse to sail in it (I have only ever met one sailing couple where both had the same level of enthusiasm); and made it to the fleshpots of Cherbourg their capacity to admit that they've made the wrong choice of yacht is negligible. To attack or criticise them is to aim an arrow right at the heart of their personality: More than choice of house/ car/ computer/ whatever... choice of yacht is very personal. You can generate a lot of heat but very little light with discussions like this.

ENJOY,
Jeremy

A suitable candidate for what? the funny farm?, a straight jacket?, a frontal lobotomy?, or .........?

Seriously, welcome Niall A.K.A. "Knotgood" (bad?), join the punters (no pun intended) and have a ball, enjoy your sailing and don't take the forum too seriously although there is a wealth of experience and knowledge here, or there, sometimes.

Hey, Shuggie, where's my beer!

Re: Hi Niall

Well done ... I also join the others in welcoming you to the BB.. A word of advice.. Just believe the Aussies when we talk about sport.. weather etc...
We are an international " sailing / boating " club, so just picture most posts here as being conversations around the bar , enjoying a COLD Aussie beer.. some have had too much , some speak in foreign tongue ( those bloody Scottish BB ers all need someone to translate their message ( joking )
We are a big happy family.. you are now a member

Aviation manager in surrey, eh? I will take long odds that you work at farnborough in the commercial sector for a swiss company famous for designer goods. How spooky if this is correct eh?

New members questionnaire

We like to get to know new victims - sorry - members, better. So a few simple questions.

What colour's yer ensign?

What d'ya think about the price of red diesel?

What is a Benjenbav, and how many of them do you get to the £?

Is the Solent the greatest place to sail in the universe?

Beer or lager?

What do think about linear galleys?

Paper or electronic?

And finally, the tiebreaker question:

Describe how to do a spinnaker peel in 20 words or less

Re: total ratbag

btw, in big sailing boats, don't think i've ever NOT seen a linear galley, btw, oyster etc ?....

Hello- like you I was anon for a while, then " came out" last week. It's a beautiful moment when you change from new user to regular. I must say, this is the only forum I have ever joined and it seems pretty good so far with good opinions etc and no intimidation.

It dosen't get flown much, for technical reasons! but can you blend red and green?

What d'ya think about the price of red diesel?
Keep it red... keep it tax free

What is a Benjenbav, and how many of them do you get to the £?
No idea.. but I am learning, so tell me.

Is the Solent the greatest place to sail in the universe?
Without a doubt... always something going on

Beer or lager?
Beer... the more belgian the better, though none of that Stella rubbish.
Hoegaarden, Leffe, etc... time the folley got some in!

What do think about linear galleys?
about the same as I think about the mounting population levels in China

Paper or electronic?
E all the way

And finally, the tiebreaker question:

Describe how to do a spinnaker peel in 20 words or less

Hope it dosent snag against the rigging and wind like F***!

Thanks for the welcome guys!

Re: New members questionnaire

Just ignore all these ignorant tossers and concentrate on the proper boating talk just like I do. TK's the worst, he's actually a big fat nun called Theresa from Leicester.
