On my moody I have full cockpit cushions made of a pvc faux leather and foam. These are pretty comfortable but need recovered. Problem being is they take up a huge amount of volume in the cockpit locker but if left out they get sodden in the rain.

I’m tempted to replace with a couple of these;
Cockpit Comfort Seat, Stay up Cushion and Chair.

Any experience of these “comfort” seats with inbuilt hinge? Alternatively, what do you use for comfort in the cockpit?

We have had 2 of these for about 7 years now ( bought from SVP) and they are still going strong. The ones inbuilt frame and hinge means that they provide their own back support when sitting on them so self supporting.

I would buy them again ( although there may be a few 'copies' around)

We've had ours for three years, love them. We have two 'compact' size and two standard size. Definitely prefer the compact in the our center cockpit.

I think Sailing Fair Isle have these and mentioned on their You Tube channel a couple of times.
Yes - saw they had them. I might be overly cynical but if the distinct impression they give all the clobber they get for free good reviews. I turned off when they started flogging a phone / computer game on one of their videos.

We’ve got a pair of similar. They’re really good, you can also articulate them so the back is leaning on whatever you like, making say leaning back on the guard rails comfy.

Are your cushions closed cell foam? Ours use closed cell foam with a reticulated foam layer on top to aid ventilation and drying and makes them more comfy. They have a fabric cover that dries pretty quickly.
We also use bean bags in the cockpit. These are filled with polystyrene beads. The cover has a vented drainage panel in the bottom. The cover is PU coated acrylic canvas so fairly waterproof apart from the stitching

Something else to consider on my new to me boat. I have a full set of cockpit cushions, but as on a cat they fill up a cabin ! Once I've got the boat sorted im going to see whether this quick drying foam would be suitable. They are presently at home in the garage. They feel damp and I'm not to sure whether it is due to saltwater or just the weather !
Possibly something like Reticulated Foam - QuickDry Outdoor Foam

Possibly only do a few of of the cushions looking at the price :unsure:

Pass. They came with the boat and the zips on the covers failed. Took about 3 days to dry in the Scottish sun…
