I was planning on stopping overnight in Combe Martin this week but I have seen a comment somewhere that its not good in Easterly conditions. Is this the case and if it is are there any better places in the same area (1.8m draft)?

cheers

i dont much like Combe Martin and have only left a boat unattended there once. The holding didnt seem brilliant though its fine for a lunchtime.

I have stayed overnight in the mouth of Ilfracombe in bad weather and its sheltered from except in winds with much north, and if no one is on it you can at a pinch use the Lifeboat Buoy. Watermouth gives lots of shelter though getting in is alarming at first attempt and I have stayed there while waiting for tides to get me further in to dry out
