I've just returned from a weekend's meeting with the Countess Owners Association.

What a great bunch of friendly people they are!

The problem with these boats is that they are so strongly built they last forever. But often, when they change hands, the membership of the association isn't passed on.

If there are any owners out there who are not members, may I suggest you look at the website and consider joining. For £12 a year, it's a bargain.

I reckon any owner's association has to be worth joining. membership fees pails into insignificance of boat running costs, and the interesting people and veritable mines of info are so valuable.

But I've only ever been a member of the Sabre 27 OA who are quite active, so can't speak for less well run associations! I guess it is in part a function of popularity of the design...
