Does any body have information regarding this now defunct company. They built my boat in 1962. The design was by Raymond Wall.I would be grateful for information on either Mr Wall or the company please.

Raymond Wall was the Chief Designer for Camper and Nicholson, but he had a good relationship with the Colne Marine and Yacht Co, who were a well respected yard, and believe that he designed several boats for them. In other words, your boat has a "sound pedigree"!

May I recommend you to look out a rather charming book called "A Taste for Sailing" , by John Lewis, I think, which describes in detail the building of his own J. Francis Jones boat, "Patient Griselda" at Colne Marine, and mentions the construction of a Raymond Wall boat at the same time. The book was reprinted quite recently and should not be hard to find - and it is one of my favourites anyway!

Hello 'Mirelle'
Would the person you mention be John N C Lewis and the book ' Taste of Sailing' be published in 1969 please

Would that Raymond Wall design be the Wivenhoe Tomahawk by any chance? I saw one these lovely craft during the search that culminated in the purchase of Hoi Lung. I was very taken with her, but she was already under offer (I couldn't afford her anyway).

No.In this case the Raymond Wall designed vessel is 'Calloo of Wivenhoe'. She is much admired.
