I did not post this before, because the Police had not contacted all the relatives. It happened on Friday night before Christmas.

I should think that anyone who knows Woodbridge from the boating point of view knew Colin.

This article from the East Anglian Daily Times sums it up:

East Anglian Daily Times account

Colin was a really good bloke, a hard worker, a good man in boat and always positive. He really loved the Nellie - I doubt if any boat on the river got more miles in during last season.

Suspect a slip on an icy deck; I had no idea he could not swim.

Survived by Tigger, his brindled lurcher bitch - a lovely dog who was devoted to him. If you saw Tigger you knew Colin was within fifty feet. Back to the RSPCA for her, I suppose.

It seems too often that I hear of the death of skilled and experienced boatmen on board their own vessels, showing that no-one is immune from an accident. I don't think I knew Colin, but my thoughts and sympathies are with all who did, and I hope a loving home can be found for his faithful friend.

That is very sad news Andrew, my thoughts and prayers will be with his family and friends, who I am sure will miss him greatly.

thanks, yes i nearly got it correct. i do remember the boat & probably knew Colin by sight.
we used to lay-up @ Eversons from 73 > maybe 80, then moved to Larkmans till about 95/6.
remember Frank Collecting the "Quiz" from Ramsholt Quay. Bought the chain for my first mooring @ Ramsholt from Frank on Georges suggestion
