I have 2 Coleman mini bar fridges on my boat which are not working, one is designated mini bar 111 and the other 11, they are both the same dimensions and are 12v 3 amp 36 watts. I have the feeling that they are disconected but the wiring, as per most other things on the boat has been sealed into compartments that are not removeable without unbonding glued panels and at the control panel that powers everything else. There are no unknown wires at the control panel, so maybe they have been cut off somewhere, all I have is a small section of uncovered wires midway between fridges and electric sources. There are 9 wires in this bunch and I cant identify any, what I would like is any info anyone may have on these especially a wiring daiagram or colour codes for the wires that power them. All info on them would be appreciated, such as likely faults and inherant problems they had, ect, Cheers

Can you tell us what the boat is please? I know that on some motor boats there is a 240v to 24v unit which powers the fridge off the mains when available and reverts to battery when not. They have a habit of failing!

It is a 32 foot yacht, a one off made by Palmer of Portavogie NI.
These units were made by Coleman of germany but on contacting them they say they made them in the 90's but have no info on them now.

Has anyone got a coleman fridge of any make as the pricepals are likely to be the same, maybe even wiring to fridge from power supply, amy help desperately needed.

I still have a Coleman Minibar gas/12v/240v from my M/C racing days.The Mains plug is moulded on so without cutting off the plug I don't know what the wires are.I dismantled the 12v plug and was suprised to see a brown centre and blue 'outside',rather than red/black which is what I was expecting.The cable looks very much like ordinary 'mains' cable so it may have been changed in the past.I've got a handbook somewhere.I'll have a dig.

Hi,sorry I've not been able to find the manuel as yet.I remember it being quite basic.I've had the back off my MB to have a look.I can probably send you a pic if you wish.I reckon your units would be wired in,in the country of build?Will that give you a colour guide?The 12v wires are heavier on mine,are your wires all the same size?That may help seperate the mains from 12v..Are you familiar with using a multi meter?
I used my MB when racing and ran it on 240v along with the tyre warmers.It would make ice so I was quite pleased with it.

must be a bit dense, not sure what MB is. A photo would be much appreciated. The boat was built in Northern Ireland at Portavogie boat yard and the way it is built in, must assume that it was put in at the time of build. The problem is that I have a bunch of wires disappearing into two sealed off compartments and I can only get access to about 2 foot in the middle and cant see where they come out and have no switches that dont control some other equipment, maybe someone cut the wires off at the switch end and I cant find the ends. As you say the wires that power it could be ones just fitted by the installer and not original Coleman, what would be good is if you could tell me how many wires you have to control your unit and diff in size between 12 and 240 volt. I presume with yours being a minibar 111 that as you have gas operation aswell , mine must also, how is the gas side ignited and how many switches do you have for all these functions. If it is easier, give me your phone number and I can ring you to save a lot of writing.
