Does it feel hot to touch ?

What sort of indicated temp are you getting ?

Have you changed any cooling valve positions ?

Is it indirect or direct cooling ?

Has the ambient temperature changed dramatically since it was running hot ?

No not hot to the touch - this is a twin engine installation and the Stb'd engine is hotter to the touch. It's the Port engine that's cool.
Temperature is usually 85 degrees C (now 70)
No change to cooling valve positions
Cooling through heat exchanger
No to dramatic temp change.

Thanks for your help - keep it coming!!!!

Just a thought and a very long shot but has the heat exchanger got a problem if raw water is by passing the matrix somehow it could be keeping the temps down

Ok thanks for that, have orderd a laser thermomter from maplin will check around the block. Will also drain exchanger start engine and see if salt water comes in from matrix. Could it be a problem with the engine fresh watre pump?

Hi, Will try turning off the flow,(Do you know why this would make a difference)

The engine is heating the 40ltrs of very cold water.

No need to drain down to see if sea water is getting in the header tank just taste it, sea=salt antifreeze=sweet. Probably down the hot water system, and the ambient temprature outside.
