Col Regs - as a .txt or .doc file

As promised in an earlier post, I want to run some concordance searches on ColRegs to identify the basic vocabulary essential to

1 understand ColRegs
2 develop an international standardised wordlist for e.g. international communications, training syllabuses, MCA reports, etc.

Does anyone have a legal copy of Colregs as an electronic file, or can you point me to a source please ?

you can highlight the whole document and copy it to a word file. It says it is Crown copyright but I can't imagine anyone objecting.

Forgive me if I am teaching you to such eggs but you are aware of Standard Marine Navigational Vocabulary, adopted in 1977 by IMO?

Seems to have been updated to IMO STANDARD MARINE COMMUNICATION PHRASES (SMCPs) in 1997 and is available at www.actme.es/satanby/miWeb3/archivos/SMCP.pdf

It may save you a lot of work.

Marvellous, thanks. It's just added a new set of words, some with quite different meanings. I am going to have to do some strategic thinking as this all is part of a project on Simplified Technical English on which I have been working on and off for a couple of years.

Never come across that doc before /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Ain't the Forum good at this sort of surprise !
