As a bit of a nerd I often keep copies of articles on boats that would satisfy the dream Euromillionaire reward.

This reflection was triggered by a recent episode of Sailing Uma which was in a small harbour in a fjord in NW Iceland and was rafted up to one of these boat: “Britt” a 56’ aluminium cutter.

Then I was watching Elaine Bunting on board one of Skip Novak’s boats in Ushuaia and next to her was Icebird a 60' aerorig sloop which cost millions originally. I first knew her by her original name: Mona Lisa.

And then in the motor boat category I was watching a Berthon presentation of a 59’ Grand Banks trawler yacht and next to her was a 34m Hakvoort yacht, Spada, which Aquaholic described as the most beautiful yacht he had ever visited. I read about it when it was first launched in 1998.

I don't feel so guilty that I cannot be bothered watching amateur 'marine' Utubes. Pleased that someone watches and filters out the dross so the rest of us don't waste our time.

Sorry - but for an aluminium yacht that is simply beautiful, and has aged well, I don't think you can go past Pasha

Pacha Sailing

You might need to add some extra ground tackle for Patagonia , but just gorgeous.

The sad part is that Uma is a little plastic 36 footer and is already a long way from Iceland while those other boats probably sit in the same place for months. It’s a great example of why not to wait for the jackpot. On a recent (private) video they were very pleased to have found some great chocolate milk. Simple expectations lead to happiness, wealth in my experience often does not.
