Cockpit Tent Seam Sealant

Bumpity, bump, bump.

Surely someone has experience of a leaky spray hood or cockpit tent?

I went to the local Asda and bought a candle for less than a pound and rubbed it on the stitches. They have them in all colours, so pick one that approximately matches the colour of your canvas. Worked well and lasted the rest of the winter (haven't needed the tent since - we're in Bimini land now).

The best proofing agent is Fabsil.

"Fabsil Liquid is a silicone-based water repellent treatment for all kinds of tent, tarpaulin, canopies and awning fabrics. It dries to an odourless and colourless finish and will really extend the life and performance of your fabric."

The smallest bottle is 1 litre and is stocked in Halfords, and many camping shops, for £13.

Does it seal stitching as well as repoofing the fabric?

Fabsil Seam Sealant is what you need .Small bottle (£5.80) will treat stitching areas .
It dries with a clear film similar to the pu coating on the acrylic .
Need to mask off other areas beside stitching for a neat job .
Doesn't work as well if you have used the Fabsil waterproofer first .
