Coburns On The Water - Gosport

Not quite that high. Ha.

Try £4:50.

Now I may be a bit behind current pricing for such things, but £4:50 for soup and bread seems a bit OTT to me.

Could be why the place was empty.

Should of popped down H pontoon I'm sure i'd be able to find an out of date tin of heinz in the boat stores !

but £4:50 for soup and bread seems a bit OTT to me.

In some places it may well be a bargain but as Coburns have gained a reputation for using the cheapest possible supplies to make their offerings, it may well be over priced. Asda fresh soups (plenty for two) around £1.20; Two Baguettes £0.67. Cost per head £1.27. The rest must be for the ambiance and welcoming staff.

I remember being told, by someone who used to run a restaurant in North Devon, that to arrive at his menu prices he tripled the prices of his raw materials. This covered his overheads and made a modest profit. Doesn't seem so far out?

Not saying I'd like to eat at Coburns, mind :)
