OK, I stand to be corrected, and I hope I am, because I've not found a decent spot yet, and I'm likely to be caught here in weather again...
Right down by the water is "The Quays"- 1st from the Heritage Centre/Liner Quay/Rail Station- can't stand it. Trying to be trendy, but instead cold, unwelcoming and heartless. Serving a poor pint of whatever I've tried.
Mauretania- on corner of the little Square. Not bad, probably the best of what I've seen so far. Small and homely, if a bit draughty (drafty?).
Lusitania, next up from above- maybe nice on a quiet night, with the right crowd, and very busy/friendly on a weekend night, but can be a tad "local"... but I guess that's the nature of a good... local.
Commodore's Hotel- hotel bar, what more can I say? Yawn. Although, at weekends there's a club in the basement- a real townie nightspot with late night drinking and meat-market theme.
Jem.
