Its more about getting unwanted marketing cold calls etc..

Its more about getting unwanted marketing cold calls etc..

The mistake I made was to put my phone number on something on the for sale section here. Several years later somebody starting texting me about the item, even though the thread clearly showed that it had been sold.

I can understand why some people would be reluctant to give out personal phone numbers but I'm a rather insignificant forumite with an extremely insignificant lifestyle. I took the gamble that should anyone would wish to call me for anything other than getting their boat checked would probably hang up before me :D
As far as cold callers go, I'd like to think I'm savvy enough to recognise scams and be able to deal with unwanted sales calls.
Also, there are those on here whose signature or profile information could, with a quick bit of research, lead you to personal information.
But, the reason for putting it on in the first place was to offer a helping hand to those that were concerned about their boats after what was quite a violent storm and a time of year that would make it very awkward for some to check them over themselves (even those non saily types. :) )
