Coastal - but non-sailing weekend....suggestions

Boat's gearbox is knackered but fancy a weekend away over the bank holiday…any ideas for a ‘boaty’ break somewhere within reasonable driving distance from London??

Quiet coastal spot with a marina nearby would be good – my experience is East Coast so somewhere quiet on the South coast would be nice….will have a car so even somewhere needing a drive to/from town is fine.

Of course couple of village pubs with good food/beer/wine will be needed!!!!

Lymington's pretty good for hanging around & boat-watching (town quay + 2 marinas) also boat trips from quay + big ferry to iow. new forest/beaulieu river/calshot/hythe (ferry to southampton+ nice town) all an easy drive away.

Go have a look at chichester. I did it a couple of weeks ago, loads of hidden boaty type things around the harbour, a few good pubs/ foody places around. I thouroghly enjoyed it. Can recommend it to any one. BarryD will have a damn good idea about the place. He seems to spend more time there than at work. Still can you blame him.
