can anyone reccomend a suitable craft for inland cruising, which would also be OK on our northern (wide) canals, I fancy a colvic watson, what would be (if any) my main problems, many thanks, mike.

The only Colvic Watson I know is a motor/sailer type vessel and rather unsuited for inland cruising, some of the canals have draught restrictions which could make a 'long keel' vessel un-acceptable.
It really depends on how much you want to spend and where exactly you want to go.
Ex-hire craft are a goog 'start point', but I would recommend a visit to the places you wish to cruise and a chat with the local boaters.
There are so many different types and makes it all depends on what you want to do.

many thanks for the reply, (I meant to say inland waterways and coastal) I am due to take a course on seamanship etc. soon, and I am sure they will advise, but I thought I would check these columns first. I think I will give the canals a miss. mike.
