The planned offshore boat race in the Oslo Fjord releases as much carbon dioxide into the air during a weekend as 17 passenger cars emit in a year.

It will be a very quiet world if all the carbon burning "sports" are knocked on the head...

Hi Dyflin. Wonder what the carbon output of an F1 weekend is? Investigating putting in a wood chip burner to replace our oil burner, till I discovered the woodchip is exported by carbon powered ships all the way from Canada to Europe! A bit like hybrid cars - a total lie as regards carbon foot print.

according to statistics Transport represents 10% of the CO2 damage to the atmosphere by human

the biggest lie is about Diesel IMO as it puts less CO2 in the air then petrol, compare better MPG and Diesel Fuel puts 50% less in the air per Mile

I cannot understand why in a country like UK Diesel is so expensive, and nobody ever sad anything about it

to my knowledge its the only country I know where Diesel is more expensive the Petrol

Hi OF /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif, I have been hearing some really dodgy things about woodchip equipment suppliers lately. Well worth avoiding for stress free life.

That's strange Diesel is about 72p per litre in ROI (105c) at the moment, whereas petrol is around 75p (111c). That makes diesel 5% cheaper here than petrol. Our diesel 4x4 has better economy than hybrid/electric 4x4s we considered, till we discovered the manufacturing/displosal carbon footprint which seems off the scale. BBC TopGear claimes the Prius has a bigger dust to dust CO2 footprint than a hummer! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Hmm?

Hi Paul /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Interesting, I was at the SEI energy show in the RDS a few weeks ago and was amazed at how many of them there were. Seemed to be a few Arthur Daly lookalikes too! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif We're hoping to put up a few small wind turbines and a heat pump.

From my understanding Human CO2 emissions only account for 2% of all CO2 so if the entire transport system only accounts for 10% of human emissions then that would be 0.2% of worldwide CO2 emissions..
Could be way off but that was my understanding..

At the end of the day i try and act responsibly with the worlds resources but i'm not going to follow this government spin like a sheep as sadly i have 0% confidence in the honesty of the government.

I agree completely with you.

I don't waste resources because they are finite.

I can't see how the minute amount of carbon emmission man has contributed could make a difference even if carbon in the atmosphere was the cause of climate change. About which there is doubt.

You may find, like I did, that those who will not see (but have ultimate faith in others' "statistics") will deride your opinion.

It makes no difference. The die is cast.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenhouse_gas

look at this article which can give a better picture
electricity seems to be the biggest concern
transport is 14%
fuel retreiveal is another 11%

my opinion is that the world at the moment is passing from a heating moment and with the greenhouse affect IMO we are just fueling this heating in a more broad band range and extreme factors

still Government and Capitalism is to blame for all this, first they want people to consume and burn to the limit now they say that is wrong...

Yes .... the Soviat union and China with their communist caring systems have really led the world in producing clean energy and industry ..... I must have been silly not to have noticed. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for the link.
Doesn't really help though as my understanding of Wikipedia is that anyone can post or modify an entry.
We could start an entry to show that statistically a sailor is more likely to die in hospital than on a boat and so petition for hospitals to be closed.

Mind you, the government is doing that for us already.
