A man was found in the water this afternoon about 500 meteres from the shore rear the enterance to Kip Marina. He was found by a passing yacht who raised the alarm with a Mayday call to clyde Coastguards. Another yacht who came to assist in the rescue had a doctor on board. Despite the best efforts of the rescurers and Largs inshore Lifeboat the man died.
It is not as yet been established how he came to be in the water but it is suspected that he may have slipped from rocks about a mile away while fishing.
Any how an unfortunate loss of life and a great shock to those who went to his aid.
