Donald Beaton et al, it's time to resurrect the idea of a Scottish Scuttlebutt Cruise as discussed during the winter. Judging by the size of Twister Ken's post, we could go down to the Solent while they're in France and have the place to ourselves.
As if we'd ever want to!
Someone suggest dates, I liked the idea of Sanda/Ghigha, or the canal, any of which should be accessible to Butters from both in and outside of the Clyde, but I'll go pretty much anyplace that has a pub.

Alistair
PS I had to bring in my fenders to get through one of the lock gates in
May. A bit tight!

Hello Superstrath

Sounds good to me, time could be an issue but I like the idea, even if only for a long weekend and a meet-up

Regards

Bet it was the small lock at Dunadry....with the swing bridge in the middle? That ones a killer to the unwary.

How was the cruise? My brother has been up for the last 4 weeks and said that the weather has been not all bad.

Meet-up sounds good.

Dunadry. Yup. The gates stick, the lock-keeper said that's just the way it is, tough.
Last week, we didn't get started 'til Monday, full family on board. We just went the length and breadth of Loch Fyne, some lovely sailing, got quit comfy in The George in Inverary and the Oystercatcher at Otter Spit (Interesting discussion between locals - "Whit're ye daein' fer Bastille Day, Boab?")
Creggans, Tarbert, Lochranza, Lamlash, Kilchattan. Great week, kids really enjoyed it, I think because I didn't do any long days, although they knackered my staysail swinging about on a bosun's chair on a halyard. It was on it's last legs anyway.
I suggest the Glasgow September Weekend, 24th-27th.

Buy some of Richards beer, you mean. We've got half a dozen Black Rock chooks messing up our yard - I'll bring the eggs, you bring the smoked salmon.
