Was out for a day sail today, listening on ch16 I thought I heard a Nimrod aircraft come on ch16 asking if he could be of assistance with the"Mayday Claymore"....later stations calling were told "Seelonce Mayday" Any ideas what the situation was.....Lets hope it was not the "Claymore" from our forum....he was certainally on the Clyde earlier this week.

Paul.

I saw "our" Claymore off from Craobh on Saturday, heading for the Clyde via Crinan. Slightly worryingly, given the report, there were three on board. However, Sgeir & Mm Sgeir gave them a hand through a couple of locks in the Crinan Canal that evening. So it's difficult to see how they could afterwards have been anywhere near Jura.

Yes I have checked every source...the best facts are as reported on the BBC. There were 3 onboard, it appears they hit the rocks. Rescue177 from Prestwick flew over me on its way from Prestwick to the incident. I guess all will be revealed soon, the main thing there were no injuries, apart from I guess their pride!!!

As I said earlier they left Troon yesterday but unsure as to the destination.

Are we permitted to report to the public what we hear on VHF?
I would think Maydays are allowed special dispensation, but only for relay purposes.

I heard the mayday as well, and posted about it, but deleted the post later when i heard they were back underway and hoping to make it too Ardfern.

From what i could make out, they had ran aground and were holed, and sitting at an angle.

I think they got a tow off and were able to make way under their own steam. Obviuosly the hole being small or above waterline. Also heard all onboard were ok.

Starboard, were on Arran till week on Sunday, if you heading this way give us a buzz.

cheers

Al.

They were heading for Fleetwood. I think it's pretty certain that their involvement in an incident near Jura is highly unlikely!

They might have been nipping back up to re-stock after finishing the Superstition.
