Hi,

I am just about to start a contract job in Norwich and was idly thinking of taking the boat round and living aboard for the duration. I wondered where is the nearest place to Norwich I could get a UFO 34 in (1.8m draft, 10 m mast) without taking the mast down or digging a huge trench ? I'm happy to consider a marina or swinging mooring but access to showers etc will be required.

Thanks,

Boo2

Have a look at Brundall Bay marina (Tingdene group). Its probably just got the depth but bottom is soft so though access might be a bit restricted for some of the tide the mooring would be fine. Certainly no problems depth wise on the river. Its also 400m from the station, a scant 10 mins to Norwich. There are a lot of other moorings at Brundall so take a trip up there to scout it out.

Mast stays up as Reedham and the Yarmouth bridges all move for you. 4 hrs from the sea.

Would advise check out the bridge opening in Gt Yarmouth. Remember reading somewhere that there were problems for pleasure boats

Unless they've had a breakdown there can't be a problem as the bridges have to open for commercial traffic. Breakdowns get fixed pretty quickly and they can't (don't think they are allowed to ) distinguish between commercial and non commercial traffic. Swing bridges are there to let marine traffic through.
