Climate change in SoF sailing

So whats the point of this post then Ken? Have you got all environmentally aware all of a sudden or (most likely) your dropping a massive hint that you are on holiday in the S of France? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

So how about some photos of all the "Bronzeuses on the beach", the girls that is, not the blokes! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Jellyfish not an indicator

I investigated the high tide of jellyfish that plagued the north coast of the Med about 20 years ago. They cleared the beaches and even clogged the intakes of Adriatic fishing boats. It was nothing whatever to do with global warming. A biological phenomenon, not climate.

'parently the jellies usually come and go in a month. This lot have been washing around since late August and there are trillions of them. Even the locals are going 'Zut alors, c'est pas croyable'. Water temp is approx 2 degs warmer than normal for late Nov.

It snowed 2 weeks ago in the southern Alps. Last week it all melted again.

It was forecast to rain here last Saturday whilst we were playing golf, but it didn't. It was forecast to be dry, sunny and light winds last Sunday but we had heavy showers with gusts to 30kts just as we were taking the sails off for the winter.

I am not expecting an influx of Portuguese Men O' War but you never know....

I played golf in Indianapolis one day in March 2005 in a snowstorm and the next day the temperature hit 80 degs F. All it took was a 180 deg wind shift as a front went through, quite common those round here too!

None of which had any bearing on the price of beans I am told today. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
