Hello all. Has anyone used the Cleopatra yard in Preveza for layup?. we are thinking of leaving the boat there for a month or so this summer and then over the winter. Any info very welcome.
I preferred Preveza Marine next door. George the proprietor is a nautical
engineer trained at Southampton and speaks perfect English. His brother Nicos
who is yard foreman and lifter is also very friendly and competent. Both yards
run a launch over to Preveza in the evenings, but in my experience the Preveza
one is more reliable.
We hauled out in Cleopatra May 2004, The boat "Ribellian" is still there we haven't
been able to get back to her. Hopefully August.
The yard has most of the usual facilities.
laundry,
chandlers,
internet access,
They also have rooms to let,
The shower/tiolets in the main building are good, the ones in the new block at the
rear of the yard are a bit campsiteish?
The public ferry across to Preveza stopped running some time back, when the road
tunnel was built but the yard runs it's own boat across to the town 3 or 4 times a day
at set times. The yard next door, Preveza Marina, also runs it's own ferry.
Preveza Marina has prises and facilities pretty much the same as Cleopatra.
Preveza airport (Actio) is 10 mins walk away, 6 euros by taxi.
A bus which runs from Preveza to Lefkas town stops outside the airport.
There is a taverner just outside the yard, good food at reasonably prises.
We moored on the town quay for a week before hauling out the port authorities
allowed 3 days before suggesting that we paid.
Both Cleopatra and Preveza Marine have good reputations, I've used Cleo on two occasions and would only add that there is a chandlers at Cleo and both Sophia and the other woman in the office speak good English.
