Has anybody got any good ideas about how to clean the build up of green stuff on our Blue sprayhood that has gathered over the winter?

Apart from removing it over the winter period that is!

On a similar subject how do you clean the black exhaust deposit from transom after a 12 hour motor? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Cleaning the sprayhood...

Get a bottle of Polycell 3-in-1 Mould Killer (about £5 a litre from B&Q). Wash the sprayhood with sudsy water first, to get the worst of the dirt off (you might need to do a bit of light scrubbing too). Let it dry thoroughly. Then paint on the Polycell 3-in-1 Mould Killer liberally with a soft paintbrush, doing both sides of the canvas. Let it dry. A few days later, you should find it looks a lot better. Repeat the washing and treatment process.

It's a colourless liquid. You can wipe any drips or splashes off the boat with a damp cloth, but it won't harm it. Best to wear rubber gloves and eye protection, of course.

This product contains an algaecide and a fungicide. Unlike many other products, it contains no bleach. It also has a residual effect which stops algae growing. I use it a couple of times a year, and never get green bits on my sprayhood.
