Any ideas? Is there a substance I can soak the metal spade connectors in to bring them up clean or is it another afternoon filing and awkward sanding? Thanks!

I think what you want is Jayes fluid (is'nt that what they use for soldering?) & I just happened to notice that they have got some in ALDI when I was in there yesterday.

I thought Jeyes Fluid was a kind of lavatory disinfectant?

I have some very corroded wire which I nevertheless need to solder onto (the other end is potted into the sensor). The forum recommended hydrochloric acid to clean it. I haven't done the job yet, but I cut off a sample of the wire and dipped it in acid on the bench, and it came up clean and shiny in seconds.
