Although the application is non-boaty, I think the knowledge of people on this forum will be relevant and helpful. My daughter has just bought a big garden climbing frame and slide for the grand-children. It's ten years-old and has seen it's fair share of rain, wind and sunshine. The wood is weathered and a bit green in places. The plastic slides (possibly HDPE or something similar) have a hard greyish-white coating on them.

I'm going to suggest oxalic acid for cleaning the wood. Any other ideas?

I'm at a loss for how to clean the plastic though. Suggestions on this would be gratefully received.

Patio Magic will bring up the woodwork, spray and walk away for a week. The plastic will not clean and if you pressure wash it will strip off the top layer leaving it rough, maybe paint?

+1 for the Patio magic on the wood.

plastic parts ???

try what ever household cleaners you have. Very dilute bleach will kill algae , but then so will the patio magic.

I used to use Flash spray with bleach on white plastic garden furniture but have now painted the table at least with Rust Oleum Universal All Surface white gloss. Looks good but I dont know if it will be durable enough for a kids slide. You might need to look at a two pack polyurethane there

I used to visit a double glazing company,i asked them how they cleaned plastic frames they used CIF bathroom cleaner.:encouragement:

CIF will leave microscopic scratches for dirt & algae to latch onto and live in.

Plastic slides: T-Cut. Once the plastic is clean, spray Vuplex on - this fills very small scratches and prevents dirt from attaching.

Patio Magic is the mutt's nuts for greenery.
