In the washing machine with it, some recommend putting it in a pillow case, but unless you've got any metal attached then shouldn't be a problem, only problem is not letting your wife know!
Many previous threads on this - just stick them in the washing machine on a low temperature wash with non-biological powder. They will come up like new but make sure all ends are whipped/heat sealed. Then spend a pleasant 20min untangling them! If they have snap shackles on the end, put them in a sock tied on and the won't damage the inside(or make any noise - tip, ask SWMBO first (or do it when she's out for the day!

I'd rather be sailing... /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
Put them in a mesh bag before loading - saves most of the tangling and avoids rope getting caught between rotating drum and tub. Bought a pair from local Lakeland Cook Shop (they also sell mail order).
Thanks for the suggestions, the only trouble I have is because I live aboard I have to use the local launderette, I somehow think they might have something to say when I hand over 50 metres of 14mm rope, but hey I'll try anything once!
Whilst when I have access to mine own machine I use that at a low setting with a biological detergent.
When abroad fill a bucket with water and detergent - leave to soak for 24 hours, then agitate for 10-15 minutes and rinse 10 times in clean, cold water.
I use the bucket of detergent 5 -6 times and find it cleans the ropes but is rather less effective than the washing machine.
If using the washing machine place each rope in its own mesh bag, or you'll spend hours disentangling the cats-cradle that comes out.
