I've managed to get my hands on some oxalic acid in powder form. Anyone know what ratio of water to powder mix. Does it have any effect on the gelcoat? ( ooops spotted- plastic boat!)

I've always stayed away from anything as agressive as acid. The best way to clean teak decks that I've found (after lots of experimentation) is to use biological dishwasher powder disolved in seawater. I then thoroughly soak the deck in this mixture, and then rub gently with one of those washing up sponges with the green scouring part on one side.

I do this once a year, takes about 3 or 4 hours on my 29 foot vindo, with teak decks and coachroof. After the second year, you'll ind that the green doesn't start to come bck until the end of the year, when you should be thinking about doing it again anyway.
