My stack pack has got rather grubby with a tinge of green that I assume is mildew. Any advice on the most gentle way of cleaning it?

+1 to washing in dilute Patio Magic and then paint with Fabsil to waterproof and protect from harmful UV.

Into the bath with starbrite sail and canvas cleaner and warm water. Scrub with a nail brush and the green comes off. Hang on the line to dry. Re-proof on the pontoon or after fitting with (?starbrite again) spray-on reproofer.

Mildew is usually black and is fungus I believe. Your green stuff is algae and much easier to remove, as above.

Just been down to the launderette with our sprayhood. Not bad results given the litchen and green stuff growing on it after 8 years.

Pete

I will find out in a weeks time when the window stitching is replaced. However, after 8 years in the sun, wind and rain a warm wash isn't going to affect it much.

Wet and forget , used for sails so should not damage the material. Works well as good as or better than patio magic.

Wet & Forget has just the same active ingredient as Patio Magic (benzalkonium chloride) in about the same concentration, but is rather more expensive.

A pressure washer can "raise the nap" on some acrylic canvas - it did on my old wheelhouse cover, making it look like a micro version of wool with tiny bobbles of material. OTOH, Patio Magic: Mix, Spray on, leave and wait for a few days

Take it off, stick it in the washing machine with some persil (of stick it in the bath if it's too big)
