Cleaning Sprayhood Windows?

Our sprayhood windows have gone opaque. They're certainly a bit grubby, but also possibly there's some degradation due to the sun.
Can anyone recommend a product that will clean and clear them?

If they are opaque there is no cure - you will need to replace them. That is UV (sun) damage and is probably also causing them to go brittle.

As it happens I have just been contemplating this same task myself. I have an old sprayhood where the windows have disintegrated and the question is where to try a DIY replacement of the windows or get a new sprayhood made (£££).

I can second this, the cream works very well, at the least it will take years off the appearance,,and it is fraction of the cost of new Perspex, I did use their canvas cleaning and rep roofing and reckon that will add several years to my spray hood., and they do this in a marine range.

I tried some products to clean the plastic, but it made things worse.
A google search of "sprayhood window plastic" will come up some online suppliers .
I odered 3m squared for about 40 Euro.
I did the job myself with a hand needle. It took about 4 weekends and I have enough material to to it again in 5 years time.
the holes are already in the material so not as hard as it looks at first, and looks very profesioal when your finished.
 
We had sparayhood windows go opaque, in the UK so not much chance of UV being too high. We were advised that it could be caused by spraying chemicals/diesel from the nearby docks and ever since I've been very wary of spilling diesel near the thing.
 
Sometimes they do go milky if left folded and damp: drying out can often make them clear again. This happened to my sprayhood windows after I left them from the end of November to early January in a damp shed - a couple of weeks ago I took them out, cleaned the fabric and dried the sprayhood indoors and within hours the milky windows had cleared.

Never had them go milky whilst in normal use in summer, even when very wet.

'AGLAZE' make a splendid product which I have used, not only on sprayhood windows but also on faded instrument covers. Not cheap but certainly cheaper than new windows or sprayhood.

If scratched and rough looking your better asking your local canopy designer to replace the windows. It is not a big job.

If its just dirt then use Renovo canvas cleaner, they have a window material cleaner.

Just remember never fold your canopies and sprayhoods. The window material will get destroyed when folded, usually causes crease marks and splits when the window material forms a point. Always roll your canvas that has windows attached.
 
On my little mgf I bought some stuff from mike satur autos and it cleaned rear screen really well. He has a website mike satur mgfs
 
You could try Brasso to polish the window, works a treat on my yacht plastic windows. As usual try a small area first and use the brasso that comes with the impregnated cloth. If you want to replace you could always try Martex Marine they produce semi DIY spray hoods at a fraction of the cost of a normal sparyhood, I'm sure they would be willing just to stich in a Window.
 
Meguiars do a plastic window cleaner. It seems to be a very fine polish. I used it with the boat polisher ! It took out some of tiny scratches, and the windows do look better, but it isnt a miracle cure.
 
Sequence, ask for advice on forum spend many man hours and not a few quid on loads of magic potions ranging from brasso through to toothpaste via some chandlers magic potion.

Trot down to local sailmaker and get window replaced.

Job done.

Mind it was pretty bad.

Yes I've used it - Meguiar's Plast-RX, it did improve things...
