I have a couple of 8mm ropes I want to clean, as they are seasonally green, insitu on the boat.

Will soaking them in a bucket of Patio Magic do the trick and at what strength?

Previous useage of a pressure washer seemed to do more harm than good.

I have some lines that are awkward to remove and go green. Patio Magic works very well, and also gets rid of the black mould which can also appear. I think the recommended strength is 1:4-1:10. I would go for the stronger. If you have any exposed teak, you could use up the residue in treating that, which will give a silvery finish which is acceptable to many of us.

Don't rinse the ropes after soaking. Normally I just let the air and rain do the job.

As above

Spray them with some 1:4 diluted PM and leave them to dry. Allow the rain to rinse them in the fullness of time.

Repeat from time to time if you see any green appearing.

Yes, I do that. Works a treat and they don't go green again all season. Leave them to soak for a few hours.

I have found spraying on patio magic using a garden sprayer - diluted as per the instructions - to be very effective on canvas and grp so have no doubt it would work on rope. The trick is to apply it on a dry day when no rain is forecast . If it dries off naturally this sees to create the longest lasting affect.
Where I used it on my patio I can now see the bits I missed !

No rain for at least 24 hours or until the 'solution' had dried.
I have started using Wet and Forget which I feel is slightly better than PM - but it does have substantially the same of similar ingredients. My spray hood and sail covers look almost new after using Wet and Forget. It also worked a treat on a small green patch on the genoa. AFAIK it does interact with sunlight to be especially effective?
No affiliation - just very happy!

You need to be careful if spraying PM. I know it's weird, but I also use it for my patio, and also for my sheltered back passage. I'll rephrase that - I mean the alley at the side of our house. If I inhale even a tiny bit it makes me choke, and I suspect that it is quite nasty stuff.

Also quite toxic to marine life. Don't dump the bucket into the sea.

I keep a spray bottle of neat PM on the boat for bits that go green, just to keep on top of things.
Regular diluted spraying will usually keeps things ok.

The active ingredient in Patio Magic isn't very nice stuff, but ok if diluted per recommendations and then allowed to dry before being washed off.

I does seem curious that most of the suppliers of this product are around London or in the Midlands.
None at all in East Anglia.
