Cleaning my Volvo turbo

I recently had an exhaust leak and as a result my turbo got badly gummed up. I sprayed it with CRC and after a few minutes of spinning the fan by hand I feed it up and it seems to be working ok but I have read about spraying in soapy mist water when at 80% load. Has any one done this and what was the result or are there better methods for cleaning the turbo etc?

My motors ar Volvo Aqad41b but connected to V drives and shafts not legs. Many thanks in advance

On my disco 2 turbo i used a good quality carburetta cleaner to clean the blades and surrounding when turbo is cold. worked a treat, brake cleaner is also very effective.

have also used the above on the EGR valve with no probelms
