Cleaning holding tanks

Hi All,

My holding tank seems to have a layer of crud in the bottom that does not seem to want to pump out.

What chemical or cleaner should I use to clean the tank?

I have heared that this stuff will soften the crud in the bottom of the holding tank. Tip a litre in and leave it for a week.

I have it on board and mix it 10 to 1 so it is quite strong. Its wonderful stuff and it seems to work!!

hi as catmando says,
however for long term & keeping the crud etc away, we have over the past 8 years used 'ODOURLOS' holding tank treatment, concentrate. this works very well, get it in most chandlers about £19 as a concentrate a bottle last a long while, very effective. We also flush the loo with our washing up water regular letting the tank get full as it then washes the top end. This will help AFTER you manage to clear the tank. Just be careful what cemicals you put down. good luck
