Cleaning Grungy Spongy White Vinyl

You know, the 1980's / 1970's stuff used on the insides of cabins...

I can shift the brown grubbiness of the stuff.

Any ideas? Had thought about using bleach, but I think I would spill it on the (nice) upholstery...

Spray-on mould & mildew cleaner from suprmarket- cant remember who makes it - its on the boat and I'm not /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif- but its v good but does bleach so be careful.....
