is truly magnificent resource on which I have sat in quiet contemplation for many's the happy hour. It devours all that is offered uncomplainingly and has never been overfaced, even by Parahandy's tumultuous movements.
In short, I am entirely satisfied with its performance although last year we fitted a battery monitor and I must confess to being rather alarmed when I observed the load incurred when the bog was doing its stuff.
Nigel Calder recommends manual rather than electric cludgies - dilemma!
We have only ever discharged whilst the engine is running so have never thought it much of an issue but I seem to be minded to conserve power at present .....
 
We have had a Jabsco Lite for quite a few years now. The flushing pump is very similar to a domestic water pump and consumes about the same level of amps. The macerator/empty pump has quite a meaty motor, which takes about 10 amps, from memory, but it only runs for a few seconds. I don't think we have ever operated it knowingly with the engine running and no dire problems have resulted.

When we bought our motorsailer it had a different type of electric toilet that would only run if the engine was running but that was because the person who installed it had used 1 mm wire for the job. It ran perfectly when we tried it with larger stuff.
 
I thought it was an electric blog, you were offering, which could make for eclectic reading. I imagine that electric bog logs might consume some amps.
 
I strongly suggest that you convert it to methane power. It can then be completely independent of the boat's power supplies.
 
I have solution - or rather, an answer.

You install a bicycle system in front of the the throne, with the pedals connected to a 12v generator. If users don't pedal like hell, then the system will not flush till they have achieved the right number of Amp hours or watty-things to recharge your piles*

Is this what Mr Calder refers to as 'deep cycling'?
 
You'll also need to give due thought to Mr Calder's 'Depth of Discharge ( DoD )' and 'Flotation Charge'....

Well, it didn't take long for this thread to descend. One serious and helpful post from Mr Cox and then the solids clearly into the air conditioning.
