Well, Dear Heart was delighted with the card and the cup of tea abed this morning.

Less delighted with the kettle with built-in water filter that awaited her downstairs. It is now back in the car awaiting return to Comet and is to be replaced by a bag of Ericaceous compost which apparently she has been after for months.

Its easy to see why we love them so.

Don't blame her, we have one of those in our office, and it's the biggest pain in the backside imaginable. You have to remember to fill the bloody thing half an hour before you want a cuppa. Or just bypass the stupid filter thing, in which case you're filling it through a really small spout.

Irresponsibnle to buy them really - flown in from Equador or wherever. Size 9 carbon footprint on a bunch of roses - who'd have thought it?

Two quid. On News 24 at lunchtime. 12 lovely deep-red roses in a handy plastic carrying cone.
In our house we learn it's our anniversary when the parents leave flowers in vases in the kitchen. I can usually manage a couple of seconds claiming they are from me, but never actually works.

Not according to Hillary Ben. He has encouraged the giving of flowers imported from Kenya on the basis that they have a smaller footprint than hot house grown European ones and that it benefits the African economies.

Not sure that is entirely true. It may employ a great number of Kenyans - but the farmers who share the same river systems are complaining that the flower producers are taking all the water upstream.

Great news for the conglomerates who own the flower businesses. Tuff for the poor downstream farmers.

Why are the kettle and the ericaceous compost mutually exclusive? Could she not have had both? Is it a budget thing? Or, was the design of the kettle so repugnant that it was a matter of: "Get that thing out of my kitchen NOW! And, by the way, I'd just love a bag of ericaceous compost."
Oh, and I don't think you can get ericaceous compost at Comet.

That makes sense. As with everything emanating from Gov ministers it is usually illconsidered/short on fact/wholly or partially wrong/in support of one agenda or another.

Gave mine a few cans of antifouling and a brush..... Even wrapped it all up in nice wrapping paper with hearts on it! Don't know why she didn't like her present!

I had even chosen a brush with a red handle as as it's valentines day.
 
I was at that match at Twickers v Aus queuing for the loo & missed Erica.When I got back to the stand my mates told me that a bird with big boobs had streaked.Yea yea I said,bloody good wind up.Some wind up.Lucky moi? not.
