Hi
I am looking at the private yachts for sail @ the back of YM. Some quote a Y reference so I search the Private boats for sale part with the Y number and nothing is ever found. I am doing something wrong or are all the boats I look at sold?

You're looking in the wrong place. Have a look at the link just below this line and you could well find exactly what you're after.

There's a link somewhere on the page, saying something like 'search by code', you can't just search in the normal search box, that would be too easy.

Actually, I think part of a rip off by the publishers... when you place an ad online they tempt you with the idea that your mag-ad refers to your online ad with fuller details. You sign up for a month. They don't tell you that your online month starts straight away and depending on when you place your ad relative to the publishing deadline the online ad frequently expires before the mag with your boat in hits the streets. The only solution is to pay for an extra month online.

As you can tell I'm trying to sell and have been caught by this!

Thanks Stingo

Unfortunately I want to sail in the best cruising ground in the World (Scottish West Coast) and 39 ft is too big.

But as per previously suggested I too am willing to pay £1 for a weeks share /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Are all the women photgraphed included in the asking price?

Have to agree with Simon's post (SPGE) Looks like I have just been caught by this as my web advert will be off air before the magazine advert that refers to it is published and its too late to change the mag advert. Or I pay for another advert that I don't want. Not even an option available to extend the web advert although I think it should be live till the next mag is out anyway. Pretty sharp business tactics I would say.

Simon, I took your comments up with our Classified department because, although I knew it wasn't a 'scam' there did seem to be an issue here that might work against some advertisers. The answer seems to be that we were trying to do our best by the our advertisers but were not being sufficiently flexible.

The Classified Ad Manager sent me this reply:

'The reason why we try to put the advert on straight away isn't because it's a scam, but because it answers the question of immediacy. For example if someone places an advert today in YM it will not appear until May 10th so we place the ad online.'

This makes sense - the advertiser gets the selling ball rolling as soon as possible.

However, the manager has told me that he will be instructing his staff to ask advertisers when they want the on-line ad to run - straight away or concurrently with the magazine ad. This way you can suit yourself.

I hope this puts your mind at rest.

James

That is a good idea but most people keep magazines for longer a month so surely the ads should be online for at least 2 months minimum, that way Sellers & buyers are kept happy.

I paid for a clasified add and it disappeared 2 days after the Mag came out! I was so miffed I cancelled my PBO and MBM membership!

You pays your money, then some more and some more! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

James, why not place the web advert from the time of paying for the magazine advert till the publication date of the next edition ? Wouldn't that be resonable ? Would encourage early placing of the advert.
