Never mind classic boats, there must be an interest in classic trailers somewhere. Just looked at a very nice 1950's yacht on a rather frightening trailer - must have weighed at least as much if not more than the yacht. Popular wisdom has it that it was originally a Nuke bomb trolley from a Vulcan base !
Anyone any interesting trailer anecdotes for our delectation ?

A friend once tried to do u-turn in a busy town centre pulling his dinghy on an ancient trailer. The trailer backbone snapped, leaving the road completely blocked and the boat and debris imoveable. Help arrived in the form of the local police, who were not amused.

Once had a plywood mistress on a 4-wheel trailer. Trundling along one day at 40 mph and one of the wheels overtook me! I've never figured out the physics behind that phenomenon.
Finished the journey okay, to the tune of "Three wheels on my wagon . . . "

I had a simialr experience with wheels taking leave of the trailer. In my case I was unaware that it had happened because the wheel was on the nearside, and it took off into the bush. The motorist behind was finally able to overtake and yell to me that my wheel had gone. As I didn't know at which point along the road it had left the trailer, there was no point in going back to search for it. I lashed the axle up to the trailer chassis and carried on.
Peter.

yes you had. if it was a four wheel trailer take one nut off each of the other three wheels, if two wheels take nut off other wheel and two of the car wheels and proceed carefully.
