I paid for a years sub to this mag back in November 2017. Had a strange email saying the Chairman had died and the December/January issue was delayed (??) so they would send me October/November in meantime. No sign of December/January and no answer to emails. Anyone know if they are still in business?
Hope it is, as there were some good articles.

" . . . Restructure, and the next issue

Classic Sailor magazine is going through a period of restructuring at the moment following the death of our chairman and benefactor David Walker earlier this summer. This means that we are not publishing a December-January issue, but we are working on the next issue which we expect to publish early in 2018.

We apologise to all our readers and especially subscribers whose support we so value. Subscriptions will be rolled forward.

Please do watch this space for further news.

We wish all our readers a Happy Christmas and fair winds for 2018! "

Fingers crossed. I, too, paid for a year's subs in November. I've been sent a copy of the last edition which is very good so it would be a shame if it doesn't continue.

"Benefactor" is not a word which would give me much hope. Why would a viable magazine need a benefactor?

This only applies to purchases over £100, unfortunately, so no joy there.

Section 75 applies to purchases over £100. But then there's chargeback. Chargeback allows you to reclaim money from your bank if a purchase isn’t delivered, a company you bought from goes bust or a service hasn’t been provided. It provides protection on debit cards, prepaid cards and credit cards, such as Visa, Amex and Mastercard, but is not legally binding.

With Chargeback, you have 120 days to make a claim and protection is provided for purchases under £100 (minimum £10 on MasterCard).

That's a shame ... I was just about to take out a sub ... It was being run by the best of the bunch that ran Classic Boat, editor Dan Houston, until the new owners decided to ruin it. Having read the website and some sample articles I thought, great, just what a classic boat mag should be, without million pound yachts and pages about 'objects of desire' and expensive watch ads! Pity if it has folded already ... I wonder how we can find out?

Well, I have just spoken with Dan Houston on the number given to me when I took out my subscription. He tells me that the next magazine is in the process of being produced and will be published in a few weeks. They are, as previously notified, having to restructure a young business but very much alive and kicking.

I look forward to receiving the next edition as it looks as if rumours of their demise are ill-founded.

Dan was invited to our Club this week to have a chat and a pint whilst talking about "Classic Sailor" Magazine.26 members and visitors attended, CDYC is a small yacht Club with 25.5 yachts on our moorings, the .5 yacht is one abandoned by a miscreant from Cardiff yacht club! Leaving us with the task of raising it and disposing of it! Yes they are about!

Dan Houston is a very keen editor and we wish him success in putting the Classic Sailor back on the shelves!

Sadly I fear it does. Despite my optimistic post in February following a conversation with Dan Houston I have since been notified that my subscription has been cancelled. All I got for my first sub of £18 was a back issue and empty promises.
