\'Classic\' insurance

Many motor insurance companies offer significantly reduced premiums for classic car drivers because they expect them to be knowledgeable and to look after their cars with special care and attention. Do any specialist insurers treat classic boat owners the same way? And if so who?
I keep getting horrible quotes!

Cheers
Chris

Re: \'Classic\' insurance

I'm no expert but I think classic cars don't get used that often and spend most or a lot of their time in the garage and therefore are at risk less often. A classic boat could be said I suppose to be always at some degree of risk - hit by another on a mooring for example and whereas a catastropic failure on a classic car - piston out of the side of the engine isn't necessarily going to involve an insurance claim - a catastropic failure on a classic boat either of gear or the fabric of the vessel is likely to put the insurance company in some risk!

Try Traffords for insurance, I think they're in Bedford. Sensible enough once you get past the telephone answering staff. Remember to the marine trade 'classic ' means more money than sense, they will treat you accordingly.

Thanks everyone. I guess 'shopping around' is the way forward, as ever!
