Hi Folks
I have been given the task by my skipper to make a list of maritime festivals taking place on the south coast of the west country in which we can take part or promote the vessel through from the beginning of May onwards and which will hopefully tie in with a number of the French festivals including Doronanez /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif which his charter vessel is taking part in.
I have so far got Falmouth week, Falmouth Classics, possibly the Penzance Around Scilly and Back (PASAB) race (done the scilly leg before but not the entire race) and the Brixham trawler race. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
cheers Pip /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yes, there is a diary of events in Classic Boat each month, but even better than that, our global events guide - the biggie - is coming out in the April edition. This is on sale mid-March and has international as well as UK classic boat events. I am going to take a wild guess here: is your skipper Mike Emmett by any chance?

Quick Mike Emmett story. Was moored up in Heybridge Basin a couple of years ago, reading one of Mike's books (perhaps the one written by him & his father). Was moored behind "Black Rose of Malden". A man walked across from the toilet block onto Black Rose. I looked at the photo on the fly cover, and was sure was same person. But ME's books had him as owner of "Ostrea Rose". Of course went and asked him, my wife got us an invite to look over Black Rose, and spent a least a couple of hours listening to Mike's wonderful voice describing the building of Black Rose, tales of drunkeness, various ex (women) partners of Mike, "Romford Robbers", and lots of photgraphs of the building of both boats.
