Re: Restoration project below. I have a copy of the original build spec & item for the "Deck" reads as follows: " 1" finished laid and payed Burma Teak from stem to break-water ... . The deck shaft breakwater to be of selected spruce with teak covering king and margin planks, and covered (with ) first quality 3/16" thick cork lino...". I have exposed the original deak, which had been coverd in marine ply, but the exposed planking although sound appears never to have been finished to the degree that I would expect of a teak planked deck . Could it have been that around that period the deck finish would have been in " cork lino". I,m a little confused by the terminology used in the spec. Any ideas ?

I find it puzzling too, so you're not on your own. i think that there's a typo in there which should read "The deck aft of the breakwater to be of selected spruce, etc. I do recall reading elsewhere of lino being used as a covering on boats. Don't forget that there was no expectation then of the boats lasting the length of time which we expect them to now.
Peter.

Resolved. After removing all of the existing ply covering the original position of the referred to breakwaters was apparent. You were right, it was a typo & should have read "aft". Now in a bit of a dilema as to what to substitute the "lino" with, will probably use ply & deck paint. Thanks
