We pass what miniskip calls the trampy boat ! well someone does live on this ramshackle hopscotch who is often seen crossing in his dingie with his dogs swimming across !!

Finally we reach Teddington lock where Howard ( a fellow forumite : teddington lock : ) sees us through

Thats all for now folks but watch this space as I will continue the exiting story soon !!

Can agree very quiet out there but then again it is only March!

Waved to RR on he way up ( he prob did not know it was me!), not sure what happened to the chap outside his house in the dory that was floating downstream faster with no engine! (I did offer to help but he declined).

Stream ok, not much to see apart from one dead swan which is the first one I have ever seen and quite sad.

Cant get my head round the yellow boards and unmanned signs there seemed to be three versions but all three locks were unmanned still I did not mind as I like playing with the buttons....

Oh and all the rowing boats were on very best behavior today..

ah no, i saw you, resplendant in bright red, i wondered if you were going on to the hunt ball afterwards... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The chap in the dori (often called "resue boats" because he so obviously needed rescuing) did get it going eventually, and has been tootling around most of the afternoon. Also saw him giving a lift to someone carrying a swan, not sure if it was dead, it was sticking its neck right out (could have been rigor mortis i suppose) and he was carrying it gently, put it in a van and drove off, there is a swan sanctuary down by Shepperton Marina, either taking it for repairs or maybe a decent burial.

V.Posh boat you were on with "New" written all over it. Have to get a sign for mine (and me I suppose) saying "Old" /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Forgot to mention It was very very quiet out there today

Such a shame

Oh and its looks like the ea and the pla have had a tidy up of neglected or abandoned boats

Even is Isleworth? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Seriously Chucky, nice to have your illustrated posts back mate! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

It was a loud jacket but very warm and very waterproof....

Yep was a new boat just delivered it for someone for something to do!

The swan was just around the bend so it may well have been that one, shame really.

and Howard, I will sort the brollies if you tell me what the unmanned signs look like!

Nice pictures, Cuckaduck - shame the weather didn't cheer up for you, it was lovely here in Birmingham anyway, if only I had a boat on the canals! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Richard, did you take any pictures of this new boat by any chance? Noticed you'd packed the camera on another thread /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Unmanned signs are a big yellow circle displayed on a big white square .... , they will either be on the gates or somewhere prominent facing downstream ( we were told not to mount them on the gates , because if the gates are open , the boating public might not see them /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif )

Couple of nice YBW golf brollies should do the trick ...

Don't forget the flag for Jaws ...

cheers

H

I think the major stumbling block would be getting the brolly to you ...

Rich lives just across the river from me and i'm out having drinkies with him most weekends ...

You can but ask though ....

/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Hehe nah I'm only joking anyway, folk wouldn't notice a boating-related brolly where you guys are, but if I were to parade one around here I'd probably get a funny look and, well, stabbed or something for it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Besides, with the weather we're having at the moment, it'd be a bad omen! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
