Christmas visit to St Kats

Just a few snaps from our Christmas visit to St Katherine docks.
Didn't do too much when we were there as I was struck down with manflu on the boxing day... and only just getting over it now!
Can't describe it as a cheap destination, but the weekly rate isn't too bad given the location and the staff went out of their way to be helpful and pleasant.
Minor annoyances were the electric keep tripping out, but the staff resolved that by moving us to a new bollard and they could also only lift one side of the lifting bridge which made it a little tight getting in and out of the lock. But, I have to stress they could have lifted both if I'd really wanted it, but they may not have been able to lower them again and I always relish a challenge...
We'd never been before, so it was one to tick off the bucket list, and I'll certainly return although more likely in the summer

Yes, I do like that picture! Ours is a relatively large boat, 42.5' LOA and 13'4" wide (I think.)
It can be a bit of a handful in tight places, at Conyer marina last Year despite being backed in as tight as we could go, we still protruded some way into the channel and caused a bit of an issue for following boats.
Getting under Aylesford bridge is an act of careful timing and we have to watch our draught at times in shallow water.


Yet, in St kats, we quickly realised it is actually more akin to the sort of thing used for keeping hamsters in

any idea who owns that titchy little boat with the yellow burgee parked next to you ?
Hopefully "we" up to the boat show on Saturday, plan is drive up to O2, use the Emirates and walk to the show.

I don't know, some peasants I think, we didn't associate with them at all!

I'm doing the same on Saturday, leaving with Andrew Saturday morning if you wanted to jump in?
We did that last time, parked in Greenwich and cable car'd over, went very smoothly

O2 car park is around £12.00 from memory.

Word on the YOT forum is that if you mention you are going to BS when buying ticket at Emirates office you will get discount, you can also get a cheaper ride with yer Oyster Card !
Think you save a pound each way.
Am just trying to scrounge another ticket or two from my chum with the big Fairline, he has been promising the staff on the stand that he is about to buy another boat and for some curious reason they keep believing him !

I think you're right, I seem to remember £12.00 and I believe it's 40% off with the boat show ticket (didn't know that last time)

You should be in for a coffee on the Fairline stand then, but it may taste a bit bitter compared to you compared to the the princess one!
Andrew had a couple of spare tickets, may be worth asking if no joy elsewhere?

Absolutely! There will be a free bottle of cognac for every member crossing the Thames with the rear commodore... I'll save you a glass
