Apologies for posting both here and in the Lounge but I hope to reach a wide and in this case a wise audience and I suspect some of you do not venture into the Lounge without a chair and whip in hand. This is maritime since it involves an import container.

Here is the message:-

If you haven’t yet bought your Christmas presents you may wish to know of an opportunity to help fund them.

A few bad boys stole a lorry, with the light brown, forty foot, high cube, dry container number TEMU 642731-4 on the back from a yard in Dagenham overnight last week on Wednesday/Thursday 25/26 November 2014. The container held big bags of high value scrap metal for refining. The tractor unit was found burned out on the Thursday morning on a farm track in Abridge, Essex.

The container and trailer are probably now sitting in a farm or factory out building waiting for selling on. It could even have been moved out of the country in a hurry to the Continent or Ireland.

The police were advised but as it involves two areas, Metropolitan and Essex, and they, in their own words, do not work successfully together. At this moment they are just waking up to the fact that this claim will alter their annual statistics in one foul swoop.

The insurers are offering a reward of up to £50,000 for information leading to the recovery of the stolen goods

If any of the members of the forum hear of anything useful or, even better, trip over the unit allowing recovery, then PM me and I can put you in touch with the guys holding the purse.

Partial payments can be made for small pieces of information to build to the total picture.

If you are in the transit ports or in offices with CCTV covering the roads around Dagenham and Abridge then please look at your tapes for the Wednesday from 1800 hours until Thursday say noon. If in the ports please look at your CCTV or container booking records for the same period extended.

It could be a nice little earner.
