Christmas Cruise

So, the plans was for brother Gary to fly down from Newcastle on the 20th then for us to set off to Newcastle on the 21st ETA 24th. The steady SW'ies we have been getting would have made it a fine sail however it looks like there will be NW'ies up North early next week which will make the trip a no-no. That was plan A.

Plan B consists of a hop to Harwich/Ipswich/Shotley/SYH etc on 21st then another to Southwold on the 22nd then a return to Bradwell on the 23rd ready for a drive up north on the 24th.

So, anyone around for a beer at Harwich / Ipswich (or environs) on the 21st pm (or even Southwold 22nd if that takes your fancy) ?.

Push it a bit further and make it to the Wash and I'll have a good excuse to get out of the planned trip to Lincoln on Saturday /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well, we made it up to Harwich on Sunday, then down to Maldon on Monday and a slow trundle down the Blackwater on Tuesday. Gary survived in one piece, didn't sucumb to sea sickness at all and we have even talked of a bareboat charter somewhere next year. If Gary continues, then he may well become the most Northern member of the ECF to date.

I forgot he was Newcastle based /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
He is not alone, surprisingly /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
There are one or two others that live there, but they don't post here, not even sure they read the ECF yet, they tend to do what I used to do and stick mainly to the lounge. Remind me later and I'll send a message to them and see if they fancy meeting up. They are the decent sort, have had a phone chat with at least one and he does sound alright, even helped me out when I needed help, again /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
