Christchurch/Mudeford Bar marker buoys

I was down there last Thursday and could only see 1 pair . The channel looks as though its all over the place at the moment judging by where the waves are breaking at low tide .

The markers are out, the channel runs a long way parallel to the beach all the way to the noisy lobster ar Avon beach before heading out to sea.

This may change in a few weeks time as the council has a planning proposal in to remove sand from the spit to replenish the beaches. Part of this plan includes dreding a new channel in its traditional position heading out from the end of the quay.

Hope this helps,
Neil

Is it known if the proposed dredging is a one off or will be permanently maintained channel ?

I believe it is a one off to maintain access as they are proposing to have floating booms across the existing channel to replenish the beach. They are only proposing to dredge this to its traditional level so it will still be as shallow as ever with around 1/2 tide access for those who draw under a metre.

I followed a princess in there a few years back and he ploughed his own channel !! , lifted the leg on our boat so high we could hardly steer
