I was strolling along Mudeford Quay earlier (for those who don't know this is the entrance to Christchurch Harbour) with the wife and my two boys scootering in front of me whilst thinking that the run was far to choppy for boats to pass through without a struggle - then this this tiny little boat darted in!

Actually I was impressed at how well it handled it - it actually was far choppier than it looks in the film...

I was there about 8 or 9 ish this evening - high water again. Spray was blowing right across the car park. I tried to take a video of it in the headlights but it didn't work unfortunately. Considering it was probably only a F7 or thereabouts I was surprised how bad it was considering it was slack water. The waves were much deeper than they usually are unless we've had a few days of high winds.

Looks similar to the chop i had just off Calshot back in the summer, had to keep on a plane of throttle enough to keep the bow high as the waves were higher than the boat...after we all drowned a few times we managed to recover the boat from the seabed which had also caught fire before sinking as it was a bowrider

Yikes: I went through the "run" a few times in a 24ft boat and managed to scare myself silly - a combination of the waves bouncing off the walls, going up and down 3 feet with 5 feet showing as depth, the wall only a few feet away, fishermen's lines, then a ferry that decides to cast off when you are alongside

Give me Chichester Bar anyday :)
