Chopper down in North Sea

Hi peeps, watching the news and the terrible helicopter ditch in the North Sea made me sad and cross that the RNLI are not appreciated more. They for sure would have been involved and yet they still don't get the consideration for a fair pay deal by the government. Or did they get a consession? anyone know what happened with all that.

I find it a joke that the press conference with first minister salmon praised the RNLI yet they are not prepared to negotiate a fair pay system for them...

What can we do?

Most of the people in the RNLI who go to sea are volunteers, so no pay. Do you mean Coastguard?

sorry of course you are right, meant coast guard, but clearly the rnli need our support, im a member, we should all be!

Don't think the outcome is as positive as the ditching two months ago, very sad indeed, 8 have been recovered and still searching.. fingers crossed /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

First six pulled out about 15:00 .... looks like a catastrophic failure of equipment and a un-controlled ditching..... believe 8 confirmed and two more spotted earlier..... Cannot say any more as it reveals too much...so leave that to the officials...

Thoughts are with the families ...

BTW ... RNLI arrived after an hour or two... commercial crafts were first on the scene (within minutes) and launced MOB vessels to search for survivers...
